Law of Austria

Austrian law is a civil law system founded on the Federal Constitutional Law of 1920, divided broadly into public law and private law. Its judiciary is organized into 113 district courts, 20 provincial courts and four higher provincial courts, topped by three separate apex institutions, the Supreme Court of Justice for civil and criminal matters, the Constitutional Court, and the Supreme Administrative Court. The system operates at the federal level, and Austria makes its statutes and regulations available to the public through the Legal Information System of the Republic of Austria.
