Supreme Administrative Court of Austria

The Supreme Administrative Court of Austria, known in German as the Verwaltungsgerichtshof or VwGH, is the appellate court to which appeals may be made from the decisions of the eleven administrative trial courts of the country. Sitting atop a two-tier administrative judiciary that is separate from the general courts of Austria, it focuses exclusively on reviewing decisions made by government officials that affect individual citizens, and beyond hearing appeals it also resolves demarcation disputes within the administrative court system, addresses complaints when a lower administrative court fails to issue a timely verdict, and supervises the administrative trial courts generally.
