All National Supreme Courts (Last Resort)

The courts that sit at the true apex of a jurisdiction's ordinary judicial hierarchy: the court whose decision on a case is final, with no further appeal to any other court within the same legal system. Belongs here: a national supreme court, high court of cassation, constitutional-and-ordinary apex court, or historical court that functioned as the final court of appeal for its jurisdiction (the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of India, the Court of Cassation of France, Belgium and Egypt, the Supreme People's Court of China, a historical last-resort court such as the Great Council of Mechelen or Poland's Crown Tribunal), whatever its exact local title. Does not belong here: an intermediate appellate court whose ruling can itself be appealed further within the same national hierarchy, which belongs in this atlas's Intermediate Appellate Courts subcategory instead.
