Law of Cambodia

The law of Cambodia governs the country's judiciary through a civil law system built on legal codes and statutes, with precedent and local custom also playing a role. Cambodia's codes were shaped heavily by France and, to a lesser extent, by Japan, and adapted to Cambodian circumstances. The Constitution of Cambodia, enacted with the restoration of the monarchy in 1993, is the country's supreme law, and an independent judiciary has the power to review laws and government acts for constitutionality.
