Jose Gustavo Guerrero was a Salvadoran diplomat and jurist who lived from 26 June 1876 to 25 October 1958, born in San Salvador and dying in Nice, France. He served as President of the Permanent Court of International Justice, the League of Nations era predecessor to the International Court of Justice, from 1936 to 1946, and was elected the first President of the International Court of Justice itself when it was established in 1946, holding that office until 1949 and later serving as the Court's Vice President from 1949 to 1955. He also served as President of the Assembly of the League of Nations from 1929 to 1930, giving him a rare judicial career that bridged the interwar and postwar international legal order.
