Permanent Court of International Justice Judges

Permanent Court of International Justice Judges gathers the judges of the Permanent Court of International Justice, the first standing international court created to settle disputes between states, established under the League of Nations in 1922 and seated, like its successor the International Court of Justice, at the Peace Palace in The Hague. The court sat from 1922 until the Second World War disrupted its work, was formally dissolved in 1946 alongside the League of Nations itself, and its judges, jurisdiction and much of its procedure passed directly to the newly created International Court of Justice, grouped separately in this subcategory as the distinct, continuing institution the United Nations established in its place. Despite its short life the Permanent Court decided a substantial body of interwar international law and its judgments remain cited authority today.
