The Federal Court of Malaysia is the country's highest court and final court of appeal, headed by the Chief Justice as head of the Malaysian judiciary and hearing cases appealed from the nation's lower courts. Established in 1957 at Malayan independence, it was known first as the Supreme Court of the Federation of Malaya and later the Supreme Court of Malaysia before taking its present name in 1994, and it now sits in the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.
