The Personal Data Protection Act 2012 is Singapore's principal data protection law, governing the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data by organizations operating in the country. It establishes obligations such as obtaining consent before collecting personal data, allowing individuals to access and correct their data, and implementing reasonable security arrangements, and it is administered by the Personal Data Protection Commission. The Act was substantially amended in 2020 to introduce mandatory data breach notification requirements and higher financial penalties for noncompliance.
