The Organization of American States (OAS) is an international organization founded in 1948 to promote cooperation among its member states within the Americas, whose Wikipedia article states that, as of November 2023, 32 states in the Americas are OAS members: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, Uruguay and Venezuela. Each member state listed under this group is grouped here because its own currently governing constitutional document belongs to one of these 32 states that article names as OAS members, a defined and closed intergovernmental membership rather than a broader continental grouping; the article notes Cuba's membership has been suspended since 1962 and does not currently list it, so Cuba is not placed here. This class distinguishes these states' current foundational legal instruments from constitutions of other American states outside the OAS, and from historic or sub-national constitutional documents grouped elsewhere in this atlas. Each member placed under this group carries its own separate citation for the specific fact that its country belongs to the OAS.
