International Law

International Law is the seventh legal family of the atlas. Unlike the civil law, common law, religious, customary, socialist and mixed families, which each describe the internal law of nations or communities, this family covers the law that governs relations between states and other international actors. Its rules are made by treaty, by state practice accepted as law and by general principles, and they are applied through international courts and tribunals, treaty bodies and national courts. The family card groups the legal systems that belong to it, beginning with Public International Law, and links onward to the courts, conventions and bodies whose legal system is international law.
