Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez is a Costa Rican jurist and international lawyer who has served as a judge of the International Criminal Court since 11 March 2021. Born in 1971, he served as Costa Rica ambassador to the Netherlands from 2014 to 2018, sat as a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, has been an associate professor of international law at the University for Peace in San Jose since 2019, and earlier worked as an international law adviser in Costa Rica Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including representing Costa Rica before the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
