Joseph Rucker Lamar lived from October 14, 1857 to January 2, 1916 and was an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, appointed by President William Howard Taft and serving from 1911 until his death in 1916. He was a cousin of former associate justice Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar.
