United States Supreme Court Justices

The justices, chief and associate, who have sat on the Supreme Court of the United States from its 1789 seating through the present bench. Belongs here: every confirmed and seated US Supreme Court justice, whether serving today or historical, grouped here rather than under the broader modern constitutional and supreme court judges subcategory because of the sheer concentration of this atlas's coverage of that one court and its distinct constitutional role as the final interpreter of the US Constitution. Does not belong here: a nominee never confirmed by the Senate, a judge of a lower US federal or state court, or a justice or judge of any other country's supreme or constitutional court, which belongs under modern constitutional and supreme court judges instead.
