Florence Mumba

Florence Ndepele Mwachande Mumba is a Zambian jurist, born in 1948 in Mazabuka, who earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zambia in 1972. After practicing law privately she became, in October 1980, the first woman to serve as a High Court judge in Zambia, later serving as the country's ombudsman from 1989 and as a Supreme Court judge from 1997. Internationally she was a judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from 1997 to 2005, serving as the tribunal's Vice President from November 1999 to November 2001 and sitting on appeal chambers for both the Yugoslav and Rwanda tribunals from 2003 to 2005. Since 2009 she has served with the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge tribunal, first as a reserve judge and later as a full-time judge of its Supreme Court Chamber.
