The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional political and economic union whose Wikipedia article names its current membership as twelve countries of West Africa: Benin, Cape Verde, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau (suspended), Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. The same article states that Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger formally withdrew from ECOWAS on 29 January 2025 after providing the required one-year notice, so those three states' constitutions are not placed under this group. Each member state listed under this group is grouped here because its own currently governing or transitional constitutional instrument belongs to one of the twelve states that article names as a current ECOWAS member, a defined and closed intergovernmental membership distinct from any broader West African or continental grouping. Each member placed under this group carries its own separate citation for the specific fact that its country belongs to ECOWAS.
