Winfried Hassemer was a German criminal law scholar who served as a justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany from 1996 to 2008 and as its vice president from 2002 to 2008. Born in Gau-Algesheim, he worked as a scientific assistant at Saarland University's institute for law and social philosophy in the 1960s before his academic and judicial career in criminal law.
