Stephane Pisani

Stephane Pisani is a Luxembourgish judge born on 26 March 1978 in Esch-sur-Alzette. He earned a masters degree in judicial careers and criminal sciences from the University of Montpellier I in 2002, a further masters in international and European law carried out at Nottingham Trent University in 2003, and a diploma of advanced studies in private fundamental law in 2004, completing a certificate in Luxembourg law at the University of Luxembourg in 2005. He worked as an attorney from 2005 to 2007, then as a trainee judge at the Luxembourg and Diekirch public prosecutors offices from 2007 to 2009 and a judge at the District Court of Luxembourg from 2009, was seconded as a national judge to the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights from 2010 to 2013, returned to the District Court as judge and then first judge from 2013 to 2020, and served as a counsellor at the Court of Appeal from 2020 to 2024, alongside teaching fundamental rights to trainee magistrates since 2017. He has been Luxembourgs judge at the European Court of Human Rights since 2 May 2024.
