Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui (1 December 1939 to 11 January 2017) was the fifteenth Chief Justice of Pakistan, serving from 1 July 1999 until his effective removal on 26 January 2000. Born in Lucknow, he had earlier been Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court from 1990 to 1992. During the 1999 military coup he refused to take an oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order, saying that doing so would be a deviation from his oath to defend the 1973 constitution, a stand that forced his effective resignation and drew recognition from judicial bodies in Australia and the United Kingdom. He later served as Governor of Sindh from November 2016 until his death two months later, and was one of only two people given a state funeral at the Governor's House in Karachi, alongside the country's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
