Rene Oswaldo Blattmann Bauer, born 28 January 1948 in La Paz, Bolivia, and holding dual Swiss citizenship, is a Bolivian judge, lawyer and politician who studied law at the University of Basel from 1967 to 1971 and afterward taught at several universities. He served as Bolivia's Minister of Justice and Human Rights in 1993 under the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement, introducing human rights reforms, and ran as a presidential candidate for the Movimiento Ciudadano para el Cambio in 2002. Elected to the International Criminal Court as a member of List B representing the Latin American and Caribbean group, he served as a judge from 11 March 2003 to 31 August 2012, and as the Court's Second Vice-President from 11 March 2006 to 10 March 2009.
