Peeter Roosma is an Estonian jurist born on 9 December 1972 in Tartu. He earned a bachelor of arts in law from the University of Tartu in 1995 and an LLM in comparative constitutional law from Central European University in Budapest in 1997, then worked as a consultant to the Administrative Law Chamber of the Supreme Court of Estonia from 1995 to 1996, an adviser to its Constitutional Review Chamber from 1997 to 2004, and a member of the Council of Europes Venice Commission from 2000 to 2004, while also lecturing at the University of Tartu. He worked as a lawyer in the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights from 2004 to 2016, then became an Estonian Supreme Court justice in 2016, sitting on its criminal law, disciplinary and constitutional review chambers. He was elected Estonias judge at the European Court of Human Rights on 26 June 2019, took office 4 January 2020 succeeding Julia Laffranque, and has served as Vice-President of Section since 5 November 2024.
