Orlando Aguirre Gomez is a Costa Rican jurist who has served as president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica since September 2022, elected by the full court for a four-year term. Born in San Jose on March 23, 1943, he earned his law degree from the University of Costa Rica in 1976 and began his judicial career the same year, rising through trial-level posts before his 1989 appointment as a magistrate of the Supreme Court Second Chamber, whose presidency he assumed in 1991. In July 2023 the Ibero-American Commission on Judicial Ethics awarded him the Ninth Ibero-American Judicial Merit Prize, and in August 2026 he announced he would not seek another term as president.
