Ioannis Georgiou Spyropoulos, known as Jean Spiropoulos, who lived from October 16, 1896, to August 7, 1972, was a Greek expert in international law who studied at the universities of Zurich and Leipzig and taught public international law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other Greek institutions from 1928 onward. He served as a member of the International Law Commission from 1949 to 1957. He was elected a judge of the International Court of Justice on October 1, 1957, by an absolute majority in the Security Council, and served from 1958 to 1967.
