Irshad Hasan Khan, born 1937, is a Pakistani jurist who served as the sixteenth Chief Justice of Pakistan from 2000 to 2002 and later as Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan until 2005. As Chief Justice he validated the 1999 military takeover of Pakistan's government by invoking the doctrine of necessity, a decision that remains a defining and contested part of his judicial record.
