Ibn Qudama, in full Muwaffaq al-Din Abu Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Qudama al-Maqdisi, was a Sunni Islamic scholar, jurist, Athari theologian, and ascetic of the Hanbali school of Islamic jurisprudence. He lived from 1147 to 1223 and worked chiefly in Damascus, with periods in Baghdad and Jerusalem.
