Hermann Höpker-Aschoff was a German politician, jurist and university professor who served as the first President of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany from its establishment on 7 September 1951 until his death on 15 January 1954. Born on 31 January 1883, he studied law and economics at Jena, Munich and Bonn, taught monetary theory and finance at the University of Bonn, and had served as a member of the Parliamentary Council that drafted the Basic Law of West Germany.
