Helge Klaestad, who lived from December 6, 1885, in Levanger, to May 23, 1965, was a Norwegian judge and composer who took his dr.juris degree in 1921. He served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Norway from 1929 to 1946, with a gap during the German occupation of Norway from December 1940 to May 1945, and he remained active as a composer throughout his life. He was appointed a judge of the International Court of Justice in 1946 and presided over the court from 1958 until his retirement in 1961.
