Enrique Armand-Ugon

Enrique Clemente Armand-Ugon, who lived from August 10, 1893, in Colonia Valdense, Uruguay, to 1984 in Montevideo, was a Uruguayan jurist who graduated as a lawyer from the University of the Republic in Montevideo. He rose through the Uruguayan judiciary as a judge of courts of first instance from 1920, a judge of the Court of Appeal from 1938, and a justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of Uruguay from 1945, and he led the Uruguayan delegation to the third and fifth sessions of the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 and 1950. He served as a judge of the International Court of Justice from 1952 to 1961, and afterward sat as a judge ad hoc from 1962 to 1964, appointed at Spain's request in the Barcelona Traction case between Belgium and Spain.
