Dire Tladi was born on April 20, 1975 and is a South African judge of the International Court of Justice, serving since February 6, 2024, and Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg. He has served as Principal State Law Adviser for International Law for the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation and as Legal Counsellor to the South Africa Mission to the United Nations. His main academic specializations are public international law, human rights law, environmental law and international criminal law, and from 2012 to 2022 he served as a member of the United Nations International Law Commission.
