Anne Peters

Anne Peters, born in 1964 in Berlin, is a German Swiss jurist specializing in public international law. She has served as a director at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law since 2013 and holds the William W. Cook Global Law Professorship at Michigan Law School, alongside honorary professorships at the universities of Basel, Heidelberg and the Free University of Berlin. She was a full professor of international and constitutional law at the University of Basel from 2001 to 2013, has chaired the German Society for International Law since 2019 and became general editor of the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law in 2021. Her research spans the constitutionalization and history of international law, global animal rights and global governance.
