Andre Paul Adolphe Gros, who lived from May 19, 1908, in Douai, to April 22, 2003, in Paris, was a French jurist, university professor and diplomat who held academic posts at the University of Paris and the University of Toulouse and worked with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the Second World War era he served as a legal expert on the United Nations War Crimes Commission and took part in the Nuremberg trial process. He was elected a judge of the International Court of Justice in 1964 and served until 1982, and from 1979 he served as president of the Institute of International Law.
