Albert Louis Sachs, known as Albie Sachs (born 30 January 1935), is a South African lawyer, activist, writer and former judge appointed to the first Constitutional Court of South Africa by Nelson Mandela, serving as a justice from October 1994 to October 2009. He wrote landmark Constitutional Court judgments on prisoners voting rights, same-sex marriage and children rights, and is also known as a human rights advocate who survived a 1988 car bombing that cost him his right arm and the sight in one eye.
