Abdul Qadir Gilani (1078 to 1166) was a Hanbali scholar of Islamic law, a preacher, and a Sufi mystic leader active in Baghdad. He is the eponym of the Qadiriyya, one of the oldest Sufi orders, which traces its name to his standing as a jurist of the Hanbali school and as a spiritual teacher.
