The Supreme Court of Norway is the highest court in the Norwegian judiciary, established in 1815 under the Constitution of Norway as the country's final court of appeal in civil and criminal cases, and empowered to review whether the Cabinet has acted within Norwegian law and whether Parliament's legislation is consistent with the Constitution. Cases generally reach it only after passing through district and regional courts, and it sits in Oslo with twenty justices led by a Chief Justice.
