DWI courts are a form of specialized court in some United States jurisdictions that use substance abuse interventions and treatment for defendants who plead guilty to driving while intoxicated or impaired. DWI courts may focus on repeat offenders and on drivers found with very high blood alcohol levels at the time of the offense. As of May 2020, there were approximately 269 designated DWI courts in the United States, along with about 186 hybrid DWI and drug courts that accept both types of offenders.
