The Constitutional Council of Senegal is the country's body of constitutional review, separate from the Supreme Court. Its seven members are appointed by the President of the Republic, two of them from a list of four names proposed by the President of the National Assembly, and are chosen from former senior magistrates, full professors of law, inspectors general of the State and lawyers, each with at least twenty years of service. The Council reviews legislative acts and oversees presidential elections: it receives candidacies, hears challenges, proclaims the definitive results and receives the oath of the elected president. It sits in Dakar.
