Extraordinary court

An extraordinary court is a type of court established outside the ordinary judiciary, composed of irregularly selected judges or applying irregular procedures for judgment, in contrast to an ordinary court standardized structure, appointment processes and legal protocols. Because such courts can be abused to infringe the fundamental rights of individuals, most modern democracies prohibit or severely restrict them through constitutional provisions, though military courts and courts-martial remain typical examples of extraordinary courts still permitted in various jurisdictions.
