Admiralty court

An admiralty court, also called a maritime court, is a specialized court that exercises jurisdiction over maritime matters, hearing all manner of maritime contracts, torts, injuries, and offenses. By concentrating such disputes in a dedicated forum, an admiralty court provides ocean-related commerce and maritime law with judges experienced in the field, rather than leaving these cases to be decided by general civil courts.
