Succeeded By

Links an institution that has ended, been renamed or been replaced to the institution that took over its place and functions, for example a court abolished by statute and the court the statute created in its stead. The link runs from the earlier body to the later one and is read in reverse as Succeeds. It records continuity of office and jurisdiction, so a reader following a judge who sat on the earlier court can reach the court that exists today, and it should be cited to the enactment or official notice that made the change, with the date it took effect. It is not used for a court that merely hears appeals from another.
