The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation is Russia's highest court of general jurisdiction, reorganized into its current configuration in 2014. It has original jurisdiction to rule on Justice Ministry petitions to designate an organization extremist and order its liquidation. On April 20, 2017, ruling on such a petition, the court declared the Administrative Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia an extremist organization and ordered the liquidation of the Centre and all 395 local religious organizations affiliated with it nationwide.
