Rajasthan High Court

Intermediate Appellate Courts

The High Court of Rajasthan is located at Jodhpur and is the highest court in the state of Rajasthan. It was established on 29 August 1949 under the Rajasthan High Court Ordinance, 1949, which brought together five earlier high courts that had operated at Jodhpur, Jaipur and Bikaner and in the former Rajasthan and Matsya Union, so that one court served the whole state. It was inaugurated at Jaipur by the Rajpramukh, Maharaja Sawai Man Singh. After Rajasthan was completely integrated in 1956 it moved to Jodhpur on the recommendation of the Satyanarayan Rao committee. Its first Chief Justice was Kamalkanta Verma. In 2019 the court shifted from the city centre to new premises on the outskirts of Jodhpur, inaugurated by the President of India, and its sanctioned strength is 50 judges.
