All Nordic Countries

Nordic Countries gathers the modern Chief Justices and Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland, the Scandinavian and Nordic judiciaries whose highest courts of general jurisdiction, unlike much of continental Europe, are not organized around a dedicated constitutional court. Denmark's Supreme Court, founded in 1661, is among the oldest supreme courts still sitting anywhere in Europe; Sweden's Supreme Court dates to 1789 and Norway's to 1815, while Finland's and Iceland's supreme courts were both established in the early twentieth century as each country gained its own independence and sovereignty.
