Susanne Baer is a German legal scholar, born on February 16, 1964, in Saarbrucken. She served as one of the sixteen judges of Germany's Federal Constitutional Court from 2011 to 2023, having been nominated by the Greens party, and was the first lesbian to sit on that court. She also holds academic posts as William W. Cook Global Law Professor at the University of Michigan Law School and as a professor of public law and gender studies at Humboldt University of Berlin, with scholarly work centered on anti-discrimination law, gender studies and comparative constitutional law.
