Yvonne Mokgoro (1950 to 2024) was a South African jurist who served as a Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa from October 1994 to October 2009, appointed by Nelson Mandela to a full fifteen-year term and becoming the first Black woman to join the bench. She authored majority judgments in landmark cases including Larbi-Odam v MEC for Education, Jaftha v Schoeman and Khosa v Minister of Social Development, and chaired the South African Law Reform Commission from 1995 to 2011.
