Fred Kwasi Apaloo was a Ghanaian judge who served as Chief Justice of Ghana from 1977 to 1986 and later as Chief Justice of Kenya from 1993 to 1995, becoming one of the few jurists to hold the highest judicial office in two African nations. Born on 9 January 1921, he was the only judge to sit on the Supreme Court of Ghana under three separate Ghanaian republics and also served on the World Bank Administrative Tribunal from 1990 to 1995. Known for his judicial independence, he was noted for opposing the death penalty during his tenure in Kenya, and he died on 2 April 2000.
