The judicial system of the United Arab Emirates is divided into federal courts and local courts, with the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi overseeing the federal judiciary and deriving its authority from the constitution of the United Arab Emirates. As of 2023 only three of the seven emirates, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, maintain their own local court systems, while the remaining emirates rely entirely on the federal courts for their legal matters.
