Vladimir Mathern (1928 to 2014) was a Slovak jurist and law professor who served as rector of the Paneuropean University and, from 1990 to 2003, as a member of the science institute of Comenius University. He authored numerous works on civil law over a long academic career spanning the socialist and post-socialist periods of Czechoslovak and Slovak legal scholarship. His writing and teaching helped train generations of Slovak lawyers in the civil law tradition.
