Vittorio Emanuele Orlando (1860-1952) was an Italian jurist, law professor and statesman who served as Prime Minister of Italy from 1917 to 1919, leading the country through the final phase of the First World War, and represented Italy at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference as one of the conference Big Four leaders. Beyond his political career he was a prolific scholar of constitutional and administrative law, authoring more than a hundred works in those fields.
