Vasilka Sancin is a Slovenian jurist born on 22 March 1979 in Ljubljana. She earned a bachelor of law from the University of Ljubljana in 2002 and a doctorate in international law there in 2007, becoming full professor of international law, head of the department of international law and director of the institute for international law and international relations at the universitys Faculty of Law by 2021, after posts as teaching assistant, assistant professor and associate professor there, and served as the faculty vice-dean from 2014 to 2018. She was an expert consultant to Slovenias Ministry of Foreign Affairs on international law from 2003 to 2025, a member and then vice-chair of the United Nations Human Rights Committee from 2019 to 2022, and president of the Slovenian branch of the International Law Association since 2006. She sat as an ad hoc judge of the European Court of Human Rights from 2022, was elected a full judge for Slovenia on 28 January 2025, and took office on 30 May 2025.
