Tirath Singh Thakur (born 1952) was the forty-third Chief Justice of India, serving from December 2015 to January 2017. Born in Pogal Paristan, Jammu and Kashmir, and educated at Jammu University, he served as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court from 2008 to 2009 and as a senior judge of the Karnataka High Court, before joining the Supreme Court of India in 2009. He was sworn in as Chief Justice by President Pranab Mukherjee and was succeeded by Jagdish Singh Khehar.

Before being elevated to the Supreme Court, he served as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court from August 2008 to November 2009 .He has also served as a senior judge in Karnataka High Court from March 1994 to July 2004 and Jammu and Kashmir High Court from February to March 1994.
