Thorwald Bergquist (1899 to 1972) was a Swedish jurist and politician of the People's Party. He began his legal career working in the Swedish courts from 1931 and served as mayor of Vasteras from 1933 to 1939. He was elected to the Riksdag, sitting in the second chamber from 1937 to 1942 and the first chamber from 1943 to 1947. Bergquist served in the Swedish government as Minister of Justice through the 1940s and used the office to pursue a reform of the country's criminal law. He also served as director general of the National Board of Health and Welfare.
